Mallards agree terms with Swifts for double transfer

Ballinamallard United have agreed terms for the transfer of Matthew Smyth and Ryan Mayse to Dungannon Swifts, having earlier in the week granted the Tyrone Club permission to speak with both players.

Smyth re-joined his boyhood club in the Summer of 2017 having left our Academy aged 16 to join English Football League Two side Stevenage on a two year scholarship. Following that, he spent time at Dundee and also picked up a Scottish League Two Champions medal in a very successful end of season loan spell with Arbroath FC.

The 22 year old Central Defender leaves the club having just surpassed the 100 appearances mark before football was postponed back in March last year.

Mayse returns to the Swifts having helped them win the NIFL League Cup in May 2017; scoring twice in the final to lead his team to silverware. The striker re-joined Ballinamallard in January last year, initially on loan from Ballymena, before making the move permanent in the Summer.

We wish both players well at Dungannon and will welcome them back to play for the Mallards if the future opportunity arises.
