Carrick 1-3 Ballinamallard

Back to back wins have lifted Ballinamallard off the bottom of the Bluefin Sport Championship, one place ahead of Dergview with a game in hand.

After an even and scoreless first half, Darragh McBrien, fresh from his man of the match award last Saturday, headed in the opening goal on 55 minutes.

That sparked a purple patch for the Mallards with another two goals in four minutes! On 57 Ryan Campbell rounded goalkeeper Aaron Hogg to double the advantage and then on 59 McBrien rose highest to head in a corner.

Indeed the away side could have went further ahead only for Joshua McIlwaine's chip being cleared off the line on 71.

Carrick rung in the changes in the closing stages to try and salvage something from the game and they did pull one back from the penalty spot on 79 to leave a tense finish.

Before the full time whistle Micháel Glynn struck the post for Ballinamallard and they held out for another vital 3 points!

Next week we travel to the PSNI, hoping to make up further ground against those above us in the table.

Unfortunately the Reserves unbeaten run came to an end, losing 1-0 to H&W Welders Reserves.
