Carrick Rangers 2-2 Ballinamallard

Both sides took a point in this feisty and dramatic match at Taylor's Avenue this evening.

Captain James McKenna gave the Mallards the lead on the half hour, smashing the ball high into the net after Carrick failed to clear a corner.

A half time fracas upon exiting the pitch seen both managers dismissed for the second period, and that seemed to ignite the home side as they scored a quickfire double. Michael Smith and Denver Gage both headed in leaving the Mallards shell shocked.

Character and determination came to the fore however and with 7 minutes left on the clock, substitute Joshua McIlwaine ghosted in at the back post to meet McKenna's fine through ball for the equaliser.

Shane McGinty was unlucky not to score and take home all three points, but the game finished level and the sides remain as they did at the bottom of the table.

Next up for us is a home match against Crusaders on New Years Day - the fight continues and we aren't giving up!

Thank you to all who travelled to support the team tonight. They battled for the badge, and that is all we can ask for.
