Shane McCabe retires

Shane McCabe has announced his retirement from football at the conclusion of the 2016/17 season.

The midfielder has enjoyed a successful and colourful career in the Irish league and has won both the Gibson Cup and Irish Cup, as well as playing in Europe and being relegated.

McCabe rejoined the Mallards at the start of the 2015/16 season and made 28 appearances, and then followed that up with 30 appearances in 2016/17. He scored one goal during his second spell at the club which I am sure he will tell you was one of the finest free kicks that Ferney Park has ever seen!

Shane has been a real driving force in the team over the past two seasons, but has found it increasingly physically demanding and has decided that retirement has come along.

We thank Shane for his contribution and hope to see him around Ferney Park in the future!
