Ballinamallard 3-3 Institute

Late goals have been the downfall in many of games this season for Ballinamallard, but they were the benefactor of one this time, when they headed in a late equaliser to secure their Premier League status.

The Mallards lead 2-1 from the first leg, but it was Stute who opened the scoring at Ferney Park when Jamie Dunne scored with a deflected shot across goal.

Emmet Friars equalised for Ballinamallard on 21 minutes when he headed in a free kick at the back post but then on 27 minutes, Gareth Brown scored from close range to eradicate Ballinamallard's away goals advantage.

Prior to half time, Friars went down with a head injury and was replaced at half time by Liam McMenamin, who played a part in our second goal of the night, when his long pass towards Lafferty, seen the forward fouled and a penalty awarded.

Cathal Beacom stepped up and scored from the spot to leave the score 2-2 and 4-3 to Ballinamallard on aggregate.

Almost immediately however Shane McGinty netted a scorcher from long range to put Kevin Deery's side in the driving seat.

Niall Owens came on for his Mallards debut but as the clock ticked down, it looked as if Ballinamallard were destined for the Championship. With 3 minutes to go, those hopes became even bleaker when Liam McMenamin was sent off for a clash with referee Raymond Hetherington.

However in injury time, Ballinamallard scrambled the ball over the line to leave the score on the night 3-3, and put Ballinamallard ahead on aggregate.
