John Quinn returns

The club is delighted to announce that John Quinn, who won the NIFL Reserve League championship in 2013 with Ballinamallard United II after leading the Thirds to the Youth League Cup the previous season, is making a welcome return to the coaching staff at the club after a spell as assistant to Richard Clarke at Dergview.

Along with Whitey Anderson John founded the Ballinamallard mini soccer centre in 1996 and his contribution as a coach to the club’s youth development is unparalleled. John’s 1989s squad won multiple Brendan Keogh and Mid Ulster Youth League titles and two NI Boys Cups during the early 2000s, and his Ballinamallard United III secured the club’s first national league title at youth level when they won IFA Youth League Section B in 2009.

This was followed by a 2011 Harry Cavan Irish Youth Cup final appearance before he won the Youth League Cup in 2012. John was awarded the prestigious ‘Coach of the Year' at the McDonald’s Irish FA Community Awards 2012. John’s connection to the club goes back to his playing days when he was a member of the Ballinamallard United team that won the Fermanagh & Western Mulhern Cup in 1989.

Whitey Anderson commented, “I am glad to see John back at the club. He knows the place inside out and he played a significant part in its development over the years especially at youth level. Having spoken to John he is coming back with a spring in his step after his time at Dergview and he has some very good ideas on how we can move things on at Ballinamallard.”

Ahead of the new season Whitey plans to strengthen his backroom team further in response to the loss of Brian Khan who recently stepped down after seven years as his right-hand man.
