Ballinamallard 4-0 Dundela

A win and a clean sheet against the team above you in the league is about as much as you could ask for - and we got both!

In truth, the result was harsh on the visitors but they came up against a Mallards side brimming with confidence at the moment.

The only negative to the game was the injury sustained to Richard Clarke who left the pitch in severe pain - we of course wish him a speedy recovery.

Prior to Jason McCartney opening the scoring direct from a corner on 24 minutes, Dundela were incensed that they weren't awarded a penalty for a claimed handball against Ross Taheny.

Callum Moorehead was unlucky not to make it two when his shot was cleared off the line before Dundela's big chance of the half on 40 minutes. Gareth Tommons got on the end of a cross from the right, but John Connolly showed quick feet to get across his goal and save.

On the stroke of half time, who other than Ryan Campbell, got on the end of a long ball before rounding the goalkeeper and finishing for 2-0.

After the restart Ballinamallard had their backs to the wall with Dundela imposing a lot of pressure, only to be thwarted by a series of blocks and Connolly saves.

The Mallards edged themselves back into the game however and netted a vital third. Substitutes Nathan Cashel and John Edgar combined with the latter dispatching a fine lobbed finish.

Then on 73 minutes it was 4-0; Moorehead with a peach of a free kick into the top right hand corner of the net.

That result keeps the Ducks in fourth, but they close the gap on Dundela and Loughgall above them.

Next Saturday Queens University are the visitors to Ferney Park.
