Ballinamallard 0-1 Knockbreda

It was a frustrating afternoon for the Mallards in the opening match of the 2019/20 Bluefin Sport Championship.

The home side couldn't just find a way through an organised and determined 'Breda and when they did, they found goalkeeper Jack Hazard in fine form.

Alex Pomeroy hit the post in the first half for the Belfast side with Sean McEvoy going closest for the Mallards, but he blasted over the bar from close range.

The only goal of the game arrived on 55 minutes; Brendan Bennett headed against the crossbar and Anthony Burns was on hand to volley into the net.

Nathan Cashel and Ryan Campbell both carved out chances for the home side but on each occasion Hazard was there to save.

Before the full time whistle a point was almost salvaged when Cashel drove into the box and curled a shot goalwards only to see it agonisingly bounce off the post.

We now move onto a Tuesday night derby game away to Dergview.
