Goalkeeping update

With John Connolly already committed for 2019/20, Harry McConkey has confirmed that Tim Harney and Stefan McCusker will be the challengers for the number 1 jersey, with Joshua Brownlee moving on.

Tim, who made 3 appearances last season, will continue with his goalkeeping coaching duties, whilst Stefan will be hoping to make an impact with a good pre-season under his belt.

"I am delighted with the quality of the goalkeepers that we will have in the panel for next year and it will be up to each one of them to prove to me why they deserve that number 1 jersey. Competition for places is essential and the goalkeeping department will be no different. Tim done a great job last year on the coaching side of things and we all know what Stefan can offer Ballinamallard" commented McConkey.

"Unfortunately for us it means that we will have one goalkeeper moving on, but this will be a great opportunity for Josh to gain some much needed experience at first team level in the Fermanagh and Western. He and I feel that he can benefit mentally and physically from this opportunity, and we have to remember that he is still a young boy in footballing terms having only made his first team debut last year aged 17. We will monitor his progress closely and are hopeful that he will still be able to attend some training sessions with us when suitable. Josh is a fine young man and has enjoyed some fantastic experiences in football to date including appearances at Youth International level and at the Super Cup, whilst he was also part of my 22 man squad for the Irish Cup Final. We wish him good luck for the season ahead and I'm confident he will be back at Ballinamallard one day".
