Harry McConkey has this evening confirmed that Goalkeeper John Connolly and Captain Richard Clarke have both pledged their allegiance to Ballinamallard for another year.

The vastly experienced pair have both enjoyed fine seasons and McConkey sees them as key to helping his team develop.

"John and Richard have been around the block and know exactly what is required to compete in the Irish League - their experience is invaluable! Their consistency and leadership this season on the pitch has been particularly pleasing and to know that they will be in the spine of the Ballinamallard team next year is a great boost".

A few may have doubted McConkey when he signed a 41 year old keeper who was just coming back from a serious injury, but the boss knew exactly what he was getting and after 37 appearances this season, there are no doubters now.

Having initially missed the start of the season with injury, Clarke moved past the 50 club appearances mark at the start of December and has shown his quality in the middle of the park with an array of passing and a coolness from the penalty spot.

McConkey added; "As I have spoken about, we want to see consistency going into the next year and we are working hard to retain the bulk of the squad. The experienced heads are just as important as the younger ones and we aim to have a good balance to help us grow as a team. I am thrilled that both players have committed for another year - they are both well respected individuals and the finest professionals that a manager could ask for".
