Dergview 1-2 Ballinamallard
A spirited second half performance rescued a win for the Mallards and secured another valuable 3 points as the 'split' fast approaches.
The home side started the game on the front foot and pressed at every opportunity, leaving little time on the ball for Harry McConkey's men.
The opening goal arrived on 27 minutes with the Tyrone men ruthless on the counter attack. Jason McCartney seen his shot cleared off the line after a corner kick and the home side seized the opportunity to break down the right flank, before squaring the ball which was rifled high into the net past Connolly.
Ivan Sproule's men could have extended their lead before half time with a free kick centre of goal and on the edge of the penalty area, but the blue shirts put in two brave blocks.
A revived Mallards took to the field in the second half, upping the tempo and intensity, and they got their reward on 53 minutes. McCartney's free kick from the right was cleared by the 'View defence but Ryan Campbell was waiting at the edge of the box to control and shoot narrowly inside the left post to equalise and score his twelth of the season.
Campbell had another chance shortly after when he beat the offside trap, but the angle was too acute for him to find the target whilst also being closed down by the goalkeeper. He did however have a hand in the winning goal; sneaking in behind the home defence to collect a throw in and dinking the ball to the back post for Ross Taheny to time his run to perfection and power a header into the net on 72 minutes.
The Mallards controlled the game from then on to continue their good form, with only 1 defeat now in their last 9 league outings.
We now have a few days rest before travelling to Limavady on Saturday - the support was brilliant today, and it would be great to see the same again for our last game of 2018!
