Ballinamallard 1-2 Loughgall

The Mallards unbeaten run came to an end after 7 games and in truth it was a deserved win for the visitors.

It was a frantic start to the match with Peter Campbell scoring a fine lobbed effort on 3 minutes to put the Villagers infront, but six minutes later there was an equaliser. Joshua McIlwaine came deep to receive the ball and then turned it over the outcoming Loughgall defence for Ryan Campbell to cut in from the right wing and finish one on one with the goalkeeper.

The remainder of the first half seen plenty of neat football from both sides but neither goalkeeper was particularly tested.

Richard Clarke shot off target immediately after the break whilst Peter Campbell drew a good save from John Connolly.

On 54 minutes Loughgall retook the lead when Gary Liggett's looping header from Marc McConnell's cross found the far corner of the net, out of the reach of Connolly.

Loughgall marshalled the remainder of the game well, preventing the Mallards from finding a way through to test goalkeeper Alan Buchannan who had a trouble free afternoon.

Next week league leaders Larne visit Ferney Park.
