Ballyclare 2-0 Ballinamallard

Another reminder tonight of just how tough the Bluefin Sport Championship will be this season.

Thomas Robinson gave the home side the lead on 22 minutes shooting through a crowded penalty area but Ryan Campbell almost equalised a minute later only to be denied by the post.

Both sides were playing a competitive game and John Connolly had to be alert for Ballinamallard to deny the Comrades a second as half time approached.

Unfortunately on the stroke of half time Jason Johnston headed in a corner to give a 2-0 lead at the break.

Ballyclare did hit the post in the second half which was relatively quiet in terms of action, with the Mallards unable to force themselves back into the game.

The home side remain second as the Mallards drop to tenth.
