Matty Smyth returns

Former Mallard Matthew Smyth, (19 years old) has signed a one year contract which will see him return to Ballinamallard, the club that he first joined as a five year old.

With three years of full time football under his belt the young central defender has gained considerable experience since leaving the Mallards to join English League Two side Stevenage, aged just 16, on a two year scholarship.

Matty followed this up with a year at Scottish Premiership side Dundee last season and picked up a Scottish League Two Champions medal in a very successful end of season loan spell with Arbroath FC.

Matty will now be hoping to build again on his playing experience, at Irish league level, on return to his home club and he will wear the number 20 shirt for the upcoming season.

The club have also added 23 year old Bulgarian Plamen Kolev, who was on trial with us last season. Plamen can play as a right sided winger or a striker and he will wear the number 27 shirt.

Welcome and good luck to both players for the season ahead!
