Ballymena 4-0 Ballinamallard
Ballymena United bounced back from a disappointing week with a four-goal thumping of Ballinamallard at The Showgrounds.
The sides traded chances during the opening exchanges with Johnny McMurray offering a half volley which went a few inches over while, for the visitors, Ryan Mayse tested Ross Glendinning from six yards.
The Mallards continued to press with Shane McGinty seeing a header saved while Adam Lecky came close with a turn and shot.
For Ballymena, Denver Gage threatened with a header from a Tony Kane delivery.
McMurray went one better just after the half-hour mark to open the scoring when, from a Cathair Friel cross, he headed past James McGrath into the corner.
And despite falling behind the visitors kept plugging with Mayse being thwarted only be a Johnny Flynn goalline clearance.
But David Jeffrey's side effectively killed off the game with two goals early in the second half.
On 48 minutes Gage directed a bullet header beyond McGrath after meeting a Tony Kane cross.
Then, just over sixty seconds later, McMurray doubled his tally after Friel once again turned provider with a low, hard cross and McMurray almost grabbed his hat-trick soon after that only to hit the crossbar.
Friel then got his name on the scoresheet on 68 minutes after running the length of the pitch before beating McGrath in off an upright.
