Glentoran 1-1 Ballinamallard

Both sides had to settle for a point at the Oval on Saturday, as we complete the first round of fixtures in the Danske Bank Premier League.

Johnny Lafferty went closest in the first half when his volley hit the upright before Adam Lecky gave the Mallards a deserved lead, when he slotted through the legs of Elliott Morris.

Lecky had a glorious chance to kill the game at the start of the second period, when through on goal, but he blasted over the bar. Glentoran were perhaps the better side after the break and netted an equaliser on 56 minutes through Ciaran Caldwell.

Both sides went for the win which made for an entertaining game, with Gordon and Allen both going close for the home side.

Ryan Mayse was presented with an excellent opportunity to secure the win, but again he also shot over the bar.

Substitute Smith could have stole victory for Glentoran in the dying seconds, only to foolishly get tangled with Allen, which meant the game ended in a draw.
