Ballinamallard 2-1 Ards

Ferney Park played host to a thrilling game on Friday evening, which seen the home side hold their first half lead and record back to back victories.

James McKenna gave the Mallards an early lead after 2 minutes when he converted Ryan Mayse perfect cross to cap an excellent counter attack. Johnny Lafferty should have made it two, minutes later, but he failed to connect properly.

Substitute Ryan Morris scored his first senior goal with a fine lob to double the advantage but Ards hit back immediately via Joe McKinney. Just before the break referee Ross Dunlop awarded an indirect free kick on the 6 yard line but the defence held firm.

The Mallards had to withstand some heavy pressure in the second half and cleared off the line on one occasion but they held firm under aerial bombardment. Ryan Mayse could have sealed the victory late on but he fired over the bar.
