Club Stalwart Ronnie Elliott passes away

A dedicated Club Stalwart - Ronnie Elliott

It is with deep regret that the Chairman, Officers, Committee and all involved with Ballinamallard United Football Club learn of the passing of Club Stalwart Ronnie Elliott.

Ronnie has been a household name at the Club for over three decades and excelled on the pitch as a player, as First Team Manager and as a dedicated worker behind the scenes for years.

Following a number of years playing with Lisnarick FC Ronnie signed in 1982 for Ballinamallard United FC and has been an integral part of the Ferney Park club since then.

Ronnie Elliott played and managed the team as well as being a key individual within the organisation of the Club since his arrival almost 35 years ago.

Ronnie was a natural left winger, however under the ‘great Ballinamallard Manager Maxie Patton’ he played right wing. Following his playing career he moved into management, where he managed Ballinamallard First team for three years as a partnership with his long time friend Basil Wallace.

Ronnie said he came to Ballinamallard as he recognised that it was going to be a great Club, which has been well proven in the past three decades. The objective was always for the Club to participate at the very highest level possible.

Ronnie took great pride in watching the Club develop and flourish, also he enjoyed young players doing well and considered the progress of Nigel Keys to be a massive achievement for Nigel and the Club.

Ronnie once commented: “This Club belongs to the people and I can see it going from strength to strength!”. He is pictured below with his grandson Charlie Clendinning who plays for our 2005 group.

Ballinamallard United FC give their condolences to Ronnie’s wife Jean, children Nicola, Jackie and Mark and the entire family circle.
