Stalemate at Ferney

The first Fermanagh Tyrone derby of the 2015/16 season ended in a 0-0 draw, which leaves the Mallards with 4 points from 2 games in the Danske Bank Premier League.

Whitey Anderson named an unchanged side from the win over Warrenpoint at the weekend, but it was the Swifts who were the better side in the first half.

Neither side really settled and the ball was in the air for large parts, but it was the home side who threatened first. Shane McCabe struck a sweet volley, but it was straight down the middle of the goal and comfortable for Coleman.

Terry Fitzpatrick forced Rouse to tip around the post on 26 minutes whilst new signing Paul McElroy hit the side netting in an uneventful first half.

The Mallards improved after the break and carved out the first chance on 50 minutes. Jason McCartney and Michael McCrudden worked well down the right, and the latter broke into the box, but couldn't quite find Campbell lurking at the back post.

McCabe was unlucky again just a minute later in the best chance of the game, when his long range strike was tipped onto the bar by Andy Coleman and scrambled away by Andrew Burns.

The home side made a double substitution with 35 minutes remaining and introduced Liam Martin and Aaron Patterson, and despite both making an impact on the game, the Mallards couldn't get the break to grab the win. In the dying minutes of the game, Patterson was lucky only to see yellow for a rash challenge on the half way line which sparked a melee between the sides.
