Shane McCabe signing confirmed
Ballinamallard United FC are pleased to confirm that Shane McCabe will once again play for the club where he began his Irish League career as a member of our historic Irish League Second Division winning team in season 2002/03.
Shane has since gone on to become the most successful Fermanagh-born footballer in the Irish League since the great Jim Cleary after periods at Dungannon Swifts, Glentoran and Portadown in between two at Glenavon. Shane became the first former Mallard to win the Gibson Cup when the Glens were crowned Premiership champions in 2008/09. He won the Irish Cup with Glenavon in 2014 and last season made an important contribution to their qualification for Europe. Only 33 years of age Shane is still hungry for more success.
Whitey Anderson commented, “I am delighted to bring Shane McCabe back to Ballinamallard. He has consistently been one of the best midfielders in the Irish League over the last decade. He is a winner and his ability, leadership and experience are going to be a big asset both on and off the pitch. Having spoken to Shane it is obvious that he still has the burning desire to do well and he will be expecting the same of those around him."
