Ballymena 4-0 Ballinamallard

Ballymena United bounced back from a disappointing week with a four-goal thumping of Ballinamallard at The Showgrounds. The sides traded chances during the opening exchanges with Johnny McMurray offering a half volley which went a few inches over while, for the visitors, Ryan Mayse tested Ross Glendinning from six yards. The Mallards continued to press with Shane McGinty seeing a header saved while Adam Lecky came close with a turn and shot. For Ballymena, Denver Gage threatened with a header from a Tony Kane delivery. McMurray went one better just after the half-hour mark to open the scoring when, from a Cathair Friel cross, he headed past James McGrath into the corner. And despite falling

Ballinamallard 1-2 Portadown

Portadown inflicted a second defeat on Ballinamallard this season, with a narrow win at Ferney Park. The hosts had their chances, and perhaps should have been awarded a penalty, but in the end had to face up to a hurtful defeat. Those two results mean that the Ports have clawed back 6 points on the Mallards, but 14 points still remain between the sides. Ballinamallard enjoyed the majority of the possession in the first half with Ryan Mayse testing Chris McGaughey and Jason McCartney also going close. Portadown netted the opener on 36 minutes from the penalty spot after referee Mervyn Smyth adjudged Johnny Lafferty to have committed a foul, and Niall Henderson scored. The Ports could have per

Glentoran 1-1 Ballinamallard

Both sides had to settle for a point at the Oval on Saturday, as we complete the first round of fixtures in the Danske Bank Premier League. Johnny Lafferty went closest in the first half when his volley hit the upright before Adam Lecky gave the Mallards a deserved lead, when he slotted through the legs of Elliott Morris. Lecky had a glorious chance to kill the game at the start of the second period, when through on goal, but he blasted over the bar. Glentoran were perhaps the better side after the break and netted an equaliser on 56 minutes through Ciaran Caldwell. Both sides went for the win which made for an entertaining game, with Gordon and Allen both going close for the home side. Ryan

Ballinamallard 2-0 Dungannon

The Mallards racked up their first victory against Dungannon since April 2015, in the Fermanagh Tyrone derby at Ferney Park on Saturday. James McKenna netted a first half goal from close range with Adam Lecky adding a second half penalty to secure a thoroughly deserved 2-0 victory. That result keeps the Mallards in ninth, and moves them to within 2 points of the Swifts.
