Crusaders 5-1 Ballinamallard

Crusaders turned in an impressive performance to defeat Ballinamallard United and maintain their five point lead at the top of the table. The Crues moved in front for the first time just after a quarter-of-an-hour had elapsed when Gavin Whyte found Declan Caddell who, in turn, teed up Paul Heatley to beat Stefan McCusker from six yards. Ballinamallard levelled ten minutes later through Ryan Mayse after he beat the offside trap to slot the ball beyond Sean O'Neill to perhaps put themselves in with a shout of getting something from the game. Ferney Park played host to a thrilling game on Friday evening, which seen the home side hold their first half lead and record back to back victories. James McKenna gave the Mallards an early lead after 2 minutes when he converted Ryan Mayse perfect cross to cap an excellent counter attack. Johnny Lafferty should have made it two, minutes later, but he failed to connect properly. Substitute Ryan Morris scored his first senior goal with a fine lob to double the advantage but Ards hit back immediately via Joe McKinney. Mallards do the double over Glenavon

Saturday turned out to be one of those rare afternoon's when both the Firsts and Seconds win. Gavin Dykes looked for a response to last week's defeat to Coleraine and he certainly got it! The Fermanagh side, who debuted their new away kit, rode their luck at times, but also earned it with a hard working performance. The home side seen a series of corners in the first half, with Simon Kelly and Fabio O'Brien both seeing their efforts cleared off the goal line, but the Mallards held firm until half time. A dedicated Club Stalwart - Ronnie Elliott It is with deep regret that the Chairman, Officers, Committee and all involved with Ballinamallard United Football Club learn of the passing of Club Stalwart Ronnie Elliott. Ronnie has been a household name at the Club for over three decades and excelled on the pitch as a player, as First Team Manager and as a dedicated worker behind the scenes for years. Following a number of years playing with Lisnarick FC Ronnie signed in 1982 for Ballinamallard United FC and has been an integral part of the Ferney Park club since then.
